"If You cannot measure it, You cannot improve it."

Lord Kelvin

Our lack of knowledge about our own energy usage is a huge problem, but also a huge opportunity for us all to save money and fight global warming by reducing our power usage.

Studies show that access to your household's personal energy information is likely to save you between 10–30% on your monthly bill, and the potential impact of large numbers of people achieving similar efficiencies is even more exciting.

At Electrex we're committed to helping enable a future where access to personal energy information helps everyone make smarter energy choices.

Electrex’s software Energy Brain along with an Electrex’s Monitoring Network  will show consumers their electricity consumption in near real-time which will offer more useful and actionable feedback than complicated monthly paper bills that provide little detail on consumption or how to save energy.

All of this can be a good start into the path to a smarter power.

*CONTROL OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS: NETWORK EXAMPLE.

Monitoring and supervision of the proper functioning of photovoltaic systems in a more or less detail and taking into account their size is very important.

For a small system the trend is to monitor the daily downstream production of the system while the average of large plants is also pushing to monitor continuously the production of individual strings to detect any anomalies, for example you can prepare the system to generate an alarm in case of attempted theft of the panels.

In the above Electrex’s network example are included: FEMTO D4 DC for each string to measure the current through a shunt and the voltage through a VOLTAGE DIVIDER. Then there are a YOCTO I-O that stores the pattern of light and temperature and a X3M D6 H which stores the total downstream production of the meter and allow to assess the quality of energy (harmonics, micro interruption, and so on).

All these tools are then linked together in a RS485 network up to a YOCTO NET LOG 16 which in this case has been enhanced to perform different features.

The first feature is to memorize the curves of production periodically looking at the average power of each FEMTO D4 DC.

The second feature is to interface with the PC, directly or through an Ethernet hub or through  Internet (if is assigned a static IP address). ENERGY BRAIN (software) is available for download, store and display the data collected by the YOCTO NET LOG 16, the YOCTO I-O and from the X3M D6 H on your personal computer.

The third feature, enabled by UPGRADE WEB, is to allow the display of Web pages with preset measures snapshots of all devices connected to YOCTO NET LOG 16.

The fourth feature, enabled by UPGRADE OPEN WEB allows you to upload in the web server of the YOCTO NET LOG 16 personalized Web pages (such as a synopsis of the plant with the logo of the customer to get publicity) and through an Internet connection can be viewed with any browser by all those who are authorized.

The fifth function, the alarm and alert ones assisted by YOCTO GATE (GSM multifunctional gateway), for example, allows you to send an email alert in case of theft of a panel, as well as send an SMS alert to multiple people, it can activate an acoustic alarm and / or turn on the lights of the monitored area, and so on.

The proposed system is then further expandable according to the customer needs.
