Looking at energy profiles to find energy waste is one of the simplest ways to save energy.
The graphs here below show the consumption of energy of a building during the summer holidays.
In the first picture we have the monthly consumption during August 2008. Even though most of the main devices in the building were not operating and/or switched off, we noted that the consumption was too high, about 44,7 kWh per day.
Probably there was a device consuming most of the energy. After a consumption survey on each type of device we found that the air conditioning system was the main consumer. The electrical filters (positioned before the power switch) of that device were the cause of this "silent" energy demand.
In the second graph you may see the quantity of energy saved just disconnecting the plug of the air condition device. The daily consumption during the August 2009 was about 4,7 kWh.
We used for this survey our portable solution X3M H BOX NET WEB 85-265V ENERGY DATA MANAGER including an Energy Data Manager X3M D6 H with FFT harmonics readings, 1 Yocto net with already activated standard measures Web pages and Photovoltaic measures Web pages, Energy Brain 4 software. RJ45, RS485 and RS232 ports. RJ45, RS485, RS232, voltage and current cables.
