Therefore reducing production costs and being more competitive in the national and international market. In this perspective the management decided to install an energy monitoring system composed of several Electrex instruments that collect the data of the general consumption of the plant. The FAR&#8217;s management ensured also that the system could be managed easily via smartphones, tablets and IT devices.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nThe FAR company operates, since more than 20 years, in the field of aluminum die-casting. The activity is carried on 2 production sites for a total of 15,000 square meters and 85 employees. The autonomous production units are 10, all integrated into the company&#8217;s IT system. In addition to customer satisfaction, the main objectives of FAR are the development of human resources as a primary asset, improving the working environment, the optimization of resources and the reduction of energy consumption.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/company\/about-us\/electrex-loesungen-fuer-energieueberwachung-energieverwaltung-energieeffizienz-und-energieautomatisierung.html\/attachment\/attachment-electrex-losungen-fur-energieuberwachung-energieverwaltung-energieeffizienz-und-energieautomatisierung\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1590\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-1590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/predictive-maintenance-electrex.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"403\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/predictive-maintenance-electrex-293x300.jpg 293w, https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/predictive-maintenance-electrex.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>The application<\/b><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>A better use of the IT infrastructure, used for monitoring the company&#8217;s cost and improve production processes, leads to lower production costs allowing to be more competitive in the national and international markets.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Following this goal the management of the company decided to install in its production plant an Electrex energy monitoring system. The system is composed of several instruments that collect the data:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>of the general consumption of electricity of the production plant,<\/li>\n<li>of the two transformers<\/li>\n<li>and those of the general consumption of gas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>using 2\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/energy-analyzer-a-web-data-manager\">energy analyzers<\/a> and one\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/input-output-devices\">input-out module<\/a> connected to the gateway\u00a0 RS485- Ethernet\u00a0 and datalogger <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/gateway-data-logger-web-data-manager\">Yocto net<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On one of the productive islands (Isle P) is measured the electricity consumption of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Thermoregulator,<\/li>\n<li>the Shearing machine,<\/li>\n<li>the Robot,<\/li>\n<li>the furnace,<\/li>\n<li>the Press machine,<\/li>\n<li>the Tape machine and the gas used in the furnace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>using 6 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/mid-analyzers-mid-counters\">energy analyzers<\/a> and 1\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/input-output-devices\">I-O module<\/a> connected to a\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/gateway-data-logger-web-data-manager\">Yocto Net gateway datalogger<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Considering the request of the management to ensure that the system could be operated easily via mobile devices and PCs, on the Yocto net gateways have been activated the software implementations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/products\/wireless-devices\/pfsu940-01-net-upgrade-log-8-puk.html\">datalogging service Web Log 8<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/products\/wireless-devices\/pfsu940-15-net-upgrade-e-mail-puk.html\">e-Mail Alarm notifications<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/products\/wireless-devices\/pfsu940-20-net-upgrade-calendar-puk.html\">Calendars for scheduling tasks<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/products\/wireless-devices\/pfsu940-30-net-upgrade-charts-puk.html\">and Charts<\/a> for displaying load profiles on a daily\/weekly \/ monthly basis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Yocto net gateways are IoT type of\u00a0 devices including an embedded web server.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Together with the other IoT devices of our product range those are the corner stone of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/news\/company-news\/the-digital-platform-electrex-ioe-internet-of-energy.html\">\u00a0digital platform Electrex IoE ( Internet of Energy )<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Electrex IoE is a digital platform through which it is possible to control and manage plants and buildings, which combines the aspects of Monitoring and Energy Automation, in which Electrex has been the market leader for years, with the possibility of interacting in real time with different devices using the possibilities offered by IoT systems.<\/p>\n<p>These options make possible to <strong>manage via web pages<\/strong> various features of Energy Automation and display historical and\u00a0 instantaneous data collected by Electrex instruments.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Therefore some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/products\/wireless-devices\/pfsu940-10-net-upgrade-web-open-puk.html\"><strong>customized web pages<\/strong><\/a> were designed and developed\u200b\u200b and eventually loaded on the Yocto net internal web server.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The one reported here below shows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the general counter of electricity (kWh),<\/li>\n<li>the general instantaneous power (kW),<\/li>\n<li>the instantaneous power (kW) of the two transformers<\/li>\n<li>and the total gas consumption (m3) of the plant.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"FAR-Pagina-web-Generale\" electrical consumers (kWh): Thermoregulator, the Shearing machine, the Robot, the furnace, the Press machine, the Tape machine and the gas used in the furnace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p In this way it is possible to obtain at the end of process the total electricity and gas used for each work cycle.<\/p>\n<p>Two<strong> alarms<\/strong> visually indicate any\u00a0 grid or furnace functioning failure.<\/p>\n<p>From this page it is possible also, by clicking the Graphs button, to access the related graphs of energy consumption.<\/p>\n<p>In the production plant it is installed also the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/category\/products\/software\">Energy Brain software<\/a> <\/strong>for the management and analysis of the consumption\/production of electrical energy or other types of energy (gas, water, steam,etc.), or environmental and state\/process parameters (luminosity, temperature, humidity, calories, pressure, etc.).<\/p>\n<p>Through Energy Brain the company&#8217;s energy manager or other stakeholders can manage historical data (numerical and graphical report), real time online measurement, power quality, calendars, measurement campaigns, event logs, alarms, cost centers, export data, etc.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/applications\/application-examples\/energy-efficiency-in-the-aluminum-die-casting-process.html\/attachment\/far-energy-brain\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4750\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4750\" src=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"627\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1-200x157.png 200w, https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1-300x235.png 300w, https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1-400x314.png 400w, https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1-600x470.png 600w, https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1-768x602.png 768w, https:\/\/www.electrex.it\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/FAR-Energy-Brain-1.png 800w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The benefits<\/b><\/p>\n<p>From the energy efficiency point of view, the benefits obtained through the monitoring system and the possibility to easily manage it via mobile devices and PCs have been various:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 organizing the data per each autonomous production unit and each working process allows to manage better the production activity and calculate cost centers<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 it is possible to detect immediately abnormal and negative trends of energy consumption and therefore act promptly<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 it is possibility to intervene also in terms of predictive maintenance<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 the historic trend of the past energy consumption and the detection of deviations from similar production situations per each autonomous production unit<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 identification of energy inefficiencies, waste, as well as the evaluation and identification of technical \/ management interventions for reducing energy consumption<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 evaluation of energy saving projects.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b>The next steps<\/b><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The data collected through the monitoring system Electrex made it possible to perform a series of evaluations focused on optimizing resources and reduce energy consumption.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>On one of the autonomous production units have been included new brushless motors and has been requested to the suppliers optimizations on the machines.
