The EU “renovation wave” has already been announced for launch in September 2020 and will aim to triple the current renovation rate allowing “faster and deeper renovation” of buildings.
It will minimize potential regulatory barriers and stimulate a faster pace of building renovation across the EU.
The first place to start will be energy efficiency, and the renovation of Europe’s building stock.
Priority will go first to public sector buildings, especially hospitals and schools as well as social housing and other forms of low income dwellings.
The European Commission’s energy chief has flagged the upcoming building renovation wave as a key priority for the energy sector in the recovery phase from the Coronavirus crisis.
“We are aiming for hospitals, schools and SMEs as the first target areas for investment because these sectors are particularly affected by the crisis,” she told participants at an online event.
It is clear that the “renovation wave” is a huge opportunity for energy sector companies, system integrators, energy consultants, etc.. Their products and services will be at the base of each renovation project.
