As we move toward higher shares of renewables, flexibility becomes essential—but flexibility cannot exist without deep, continuous, and reliable observability.
The recent ENTSO-E report makes this clear:
➡️ Distributed assets cannot contribute to flexibility if system operators lack real-time visibility into their behaviour.
➡️ Data remains fragmented across plants, devices, and platforms.
➡️ Most systems were designed for basic supervision, not for high-resolution, event-driven decision making.
👉 Without unified visibility, flexibility markets and advanced grid services simply cannot function.
🔧 Possible Directions Highlighted by ENTSO-E
To enable future flexibility, the report stresses the need for:
✔️ High-resolution data streams from inverters, meters, power quality analyzers, and plant controllers.
✔️ Aggregation capabilities able to consolidate multiple assets (PV, storage, EV charging, industrial loads…).
✔️ Standardised communication protocols to allow secure and interoperable data exchange with DSOs/TSOs.
✔️ Edge intelligence to ensure data remains actionable—even when communication links are unstable.
✔️ Continuous monitoring + predictive analytics for early detection of anomalies and readiness of assets to provide flexibility.
👉 In short: No flexibility without observability. No observability without high-quality, unified data.

⚡ How Electrex Helps — Turning “Data Chaos” into Actionable Flexibility
Electrex solutions are built on the idea that granular monitoring + intelligent aggregation = flexibility-ready infrastructure.
Electrex enables observability through:
✅ High-frequency, high-precision measurement of energy flows, power quality, harmonics, events, and environmental parameters.
✅ Edge-level data aggregation using our All-In-One devices, capable of merging data from heterogeneous sources (PV inverters, storage, loads, sensors…).
✅ Integrated PLC logic to process data locally, even during connectivity interruptions.
✅ Unified dashboards & APIs for system integrators to centralize multi-site and multi-technology monitoring.
✅ Secure, multi-protocol communication (MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, HTTP, REST APIs,…).
✅ Hybrid architectures enabling both cloud and local processing for real-time responsiveness.
👉 This transforms distributed plants—from PV to industrial loads—into observable, predictable, and controllable assets ready to support flexibility markets and grid services.
